News from the Frontlines – October 2026

Over 50 Christians Killed in Nigeria

The headlines often tell us where there is conflict, but they don't always tell us what is happening to the Christians living in the middle of it. Behind each of these updates are real believers, families, pastors, and churches navigating circumstances most of us will never experience.

Some are grieving, some are gathering quietly, some are serving communities devastated by violence, and some are courageously sharing Jesus despite knowing the cost. Yet, the Church is still there. God is still at work, and His people continue follow Him faithfully. Read this week's Persecuted Christin News from the Frontlines and join us in praying for our brothers and sisters around the world.

SOMALILAND

A father of five who secretly became a Christian earlier this year died after relatives allegedly poisoned him because of his conversion. Sharif Ali had quietly opened his home to underground believers, offering friendship and practical support despite the danger. Before his death, he expressed his faith in Jesus and his confidence in eternal life.

PLEASE PRAY:

  • For comfort and provisions for his wife and children
  • For protection over underground Christians in Somaliland
  • For believers to remain faithful despite intense pressure

INDIA

Christians continue to face arrest under state anti-conversion laws in India. Recent cases have resulted in believers being imprisoned following accusations connected to Christian ministry and alleged religious conversion. These laws are increasingly creating an environment where ordinary Christian activities can result in accusations, police action, and imprisonment.

PLEASE PRAY:

  • For Christians imprisoned or facing charges because of their faith
  • For wisdom and courage for pastors and ministry leaders
  • For religious freedom to be protected throughout India

SUDAN

Violence against church leaders in Sudan’s Nuba Mountains intensified when militants killed an Episcopal pastor and abducted other Christian leaders. Pastor Adel Idris Jongool was killed after militants entered the area, part of a series of attacks against Christians amid Sudan's wider conflict. Church leaders have called on all parties to respect clergy, churches, and civilians.

PLEASE PRAY:

  • That Pastor Adel’s family and congregation would feel God’s comfort and peace
  • For protection over church leaders serving amid the conflict
  • For an end to violence against civilians and Christian communities

UGANDA

A 25-year-old pastor was killed following an interfaith dialogue. Pastor Bernard Mulongo had participated in a public religious discussion where two Muslims reportedly chose to follow Christ. Later that night, he was attacked and killed while traveling home. He leaves behind his wife and two young children, while authorities continue to investigate his death.

PLEASE PRAY:

  • For comfort and provisions for Pastor Bernard’s family
  • For justice as authorities investigate his death
  • For believers to have courage to continue sharing the gospel

PAKISTAN

Pakistan’s supreme Court has released details explaining its acquittal of three men previously sentenced to death for the killing of two Christians who were burned to death in 2014. The court cited gaps and contradictions in the prosecution’s case and insufficient reliable evidence to uphold the convictions. The ruling has again drawn attention to the vulnerability of Christians and the challenges surrounding justice in cases of religiously motivated violence.

PLEASE PRAY:

  • That the family of the Christian couple would receive God’s comfort
  • For justice and protection of vulnerable believers
  • For wisdom and integrity throughout their legal system

Thank you for taking the time to read about and pray for the experiences of our Christians in countries hostile to the Gospel. The biggest request we receive from the field is for Canadians like you to pray for and not forget about our brothers and sisters around the world who are facing severe persecution for their faith in Jesus.

“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.”  1 Corinthians 12:12-13
